Witam. Podłączę się do tematu bo również mam problem z zinstalowaniem sterów nvidii. Próbowałem już różnych metod z opisów Kaki i innych userów. I nic !! Za Chiny nie można tego zrobić. Na Etch'u to było rzeczywiście proste. Bodaj wydanie 2 poleceń apt'owi i później
i wszystko grało.
Już zaczynam "podejrzewać "NVidię", że olała w tej wersji kernela swoje karty z serii GeForce2 MX/MX 400.
Mam Lenny'ego stawianego od testinga, z którego w trakcie zabaw z nwidią zrobił się sid (dodane wpisy w source.list). Chcę również zaznaczyć, że mam potrzebne nagłówki i źródła kernela dla wersji 2.6.18-4-686. Zawartość /usr/src/ u mnie:
Usiłuję zainstalować na prawdę stare stery: NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-7667-pkg1.run które mnie dotąd nie zawodziły przy instalacji karty. W Etchu instalowałem z powodzeniem również o wiele nowsze.
Celowo również ustawiłem osobną partycję i ze 4x instalowałem od nowa Lenny'ego testinga z 1 płyty z KDE i na tak gołym systemie próby instalacji nic nie dały. Otrzymywałem komunikaty o braku linux-headers i na tym się zabawa kończyła. Pozdrawiam.

Dziwne jest, że na Debianie z którego piszę, przy pierwszym podejściu instalator nie zgłosił problemów i miałem wrażenie że instalacja przebiegła pomyślnie. Mimo to xserver nie podnosił się przy poprawnych wpisach w xorg.conf. Teraz to już chyba mam namieszane w systemie bo żaden ze sterowników się nie instaluje. Szczerze mówiąc to chyba trudno będzie to odmotać bo podchodziłem do tego trochę "siłowo" ;-) i pomieszałem w rezultacie metody instalacji.
Ale spróbuję jeszcze z 9639. Dzięki za podpowiedź.

A więc zainstalowałem stery 9639. Instalacja przebiegła bez zastrzeżeń. Po zmianie wpisu w xorg.conf z "nv" na "nvidia" xserver nie wstaje. Mam czarny ekran i po chwili otrzymuję komunikat z /var/log/Xorg.0.log :
Pragnę zarazem przeprosić za zaklejanie wydrukiem log'a.
Praktycznie nie mam dostępu do konsoli i po przejściu i zalogowaniu się na następną muszę ponownie powrócić do "nv" aby wystartować X-y.
Pokażę jeszcze swój xorg.conf bo może tu jest jakiś bug, którego ja nie zauważam.
Przyznam, że miałem już o wiele bardziej skomplikowane konfigi lecz ciągle nie mogę przeskoczyć instalacji sterów nvidii :-P .

Praktycznie nie mam dostępu do konsoli i po przejściu i zalogowaniu się na następną muszę ponownie powrócić do "nv" aby wystartować X-y.
